Marcos I. Restrepo, MD, MSc, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
He is the director at the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System, Audie L. Murphy Division. Dr. Restrepo is an investigator for VERDICT, which aims to translate medical evidence into clinical practice. |
He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowships in infectious diseases, pulmonary disease, and critical care medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. His training and board certifications in Infectious diseases, Pulmonary and Critical Care medicine allows him to have a broad perspective of infectious diseases issues in a variety of populations. His current primary research focuses on immunomodulation in sepsis and pneumonia, appropriate application of interventions to prevent and treat critically ill patients with severe infections and improving health outcomes and quality of care in ICU patients with pneumonia and sepsis. Dr. Restrepo has been an author or coauthor of more than 75 journal articles and 7 book chapters and has lectured nationally and internationally. He serves as a reviewer for 14 journals, including the Critical Care Medicine, Chest and American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. He is currently a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.
