Prof. Mario Cazzola is Associate Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of Rome ‘Tor Vergata’ Rome, Italy and Visiting Senior Lecturer at the Sackler Institute of Pulmonary Pharmacology, GKT School of Biomedical Sciences, London, UK.
Prof. Cazzola has devoted his research to pharmacology of airway diseases, particularly use of bronchodilators in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and respiratory infections, particularly use of antimicrobial drugs.

He is the author or co-author of 404 scientific papers and book chapters, editor and author of 10 monographs or books and 217 abstracts. He serves as the Editor-in-chief for Respiratory Advances in Respiratory Diseases, the Executive Editor for Pulmonary Pharmacology & Therapeutics, an Associate Editor for Respiratory Medicine, for Respiratory Research, and Breathe. He is co-Editorin- Chief of Aria, Ambiente e Salute, and is an Editorial Board Member for Respiration, International Journal of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Monaldi Archives for Chest Diseases, Current Pulmonary Medicine Reviews, International Journal of Respiratory Care, Current Drug Therapy, Current Patents on Anti-Infective Drug Discovery, and Open Access Journal of Clinical Trials. He was the Chairman of the Airway Pharmacology and Treatment Group and the Secretary of the Inflammatory Airway Diseases and Clinical Allergy Assembly and is the Postgraduate Courses Director at the European Respiratory Society. He was the Co-chairman of the European Respiratory Society/American Thoracic Society Task Force "Outcomes for COPD pharmacological trials: from lung function to biomarkers". He is a member of the steering committee of the Airway Disorders Network at the American College of Chest Physicians. |
