Has been on the Admissions Interview Panel since 2004.
Teaches on the MSc in Medical Microbiology course and the Diploma in Sports Medicine.

RESEARCH PORTFOLIO (includes):

Main area of research interest has been the investigation of pathophysiological mechanisms in asthma and more recently chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) by study of patients with these diseases particularly using targeted drug therapy to understand disease processes.

Has particular expertise in the investigation of severe and difficult asthma and the investigation of immunosuppressants.

Is an acknowledged expert in clinical trial design in asthma and COPD and the interpretation of clinical trials.

Has, for the last four years, co-chaired the pharmacology section of the new British Guideline of Asthma Management a collaboration between the British Thoracic Society and the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN).
